ACROBAT Consulting & Marketing has successfully secured funding for two of its clients to collaborate on a sports development initiative which links football and healthy eating. The clubs are FC United of Manchester and Stalybridge Celtic FC.
The funding was secured from The Community Club Development Fund. This is a partnership between the Football Conference, the Premier League and the Professional Footballers’ Association. Both the Premier League and the PFA have committed to contribute £400,000 each to the Fund in this its first year. The Scheme is designed to encourage member clubs develop their work in their local communities.
The precise activities being undertaken in Tameside are: sports coaching in-situ at primary schools, using Stalybridge Celtic branded resources for learning.
The programme is to adopt a successful protocol utilised elsewhere in the industry, so it is a tried and tested model. The benefits are tangible in terms of heath promotion, good citizenship, self esteem, sports development etc.
Celtic will work with Keystage 2 (Years 3-6) on the basis of one class at a time of typically 30 pupils. More information: www.stalybridgecelticu21.co.uk
