No soft touch
Our consultants have recently been commissioned to undertake a market assessment of the United Kingdom’s soft play and play centres marketplace.
The appraisal was necessary to underpin future decision making with regards to a client’s developmental plans for market penetration.
There are more than 1,000 dedicated play centres in the UK. Average size of around 4,000 sq ft. This includes a wide variety of different outlet types, ranging from play areas in pubs to large freestanding out-of-town units covering as much as 22,000 sq ft.
The market accounted for £124 Million in 2005. Admission remains the largest source of revenue for indoor play centres. However, it should be noted a ‘close second’ in revenue streams is children’s parties at the same venue at £117 Million.
