Survival plan for Club in Administration
ACROBAT has been invited alongside Simmonds & Co (accountants and insolvency practitioners) to lead activities surrounding the preparation of a 'survival plan' for Stockport County FC. This in collaboration with key, selected supporters and business people.
The invitation arose due to our Consultants reputation from the award winning support to Oldham Athletic FC that faced similar financial difficulties.
Stockport County in latest trading figures was estimated to lose in excess of £1Million, continuing several loss-making years. We contributed to a 'due diligence' exercise to appreciate expected funding requirements and proactively, approached potential investors with the right credibility to join the Consortium's team of Stockport businessmen and women.
The 'skeletons falling out of closets' were more numerous than envisaged and this combined with the Club being merely a 'tenant' in Edgeley Park stadium without recourse to all revenue streams, meant the bid and planning represented a significant challenge. We were proudly acknowledged to be the 'preferred bidder' and had first choice on acquiring the Club - but withdrew with concerns around the funding proposals. All the people that were involved with the Consortium deserve much credit.
